Lanyan Musuem

The museum was designed by Kris Yao to blend in with nature and inspired by local natural elements such as the cuesta, a rock-form commonly found along the northeast coast of Taiwan. At a distance, the building resembles a giant black rock (paying homage to Wushi Harbour, or black rock harbour), however up close the building is truly a unique design.

As the Lanyang Plains are where the ocean meets the mountains and rivers in Yilan, the museum's exhibits show Yilan's development over time with regard to its special landscape.
