Hsinyi Shopping Area - Hwashan 1914 Creative Park

Taipei 101
Located in the finest district Taipei has to offer, TAIPEI 101 is the largest engineering project ever in the history of the Taiwan construction business. Supported by a dozen or so domestic businesses, the TFC Corp. was fortunate to have local and international experts in charge of the planning, and world-class architect C.Y. Lee was responsible for the design of the project. The design transcends the unit-body concept and is based on the Chinese number 8, a numeral long considered lucky in Chinese culture. Eight-floor structural units are connected one by one on top of each other to form the whole. This kind of rhythmic aesthetic is new to skyscrapers.
The sectional TAIPEI 101 employs a Mega Structure System for disaster and wind damage prevention. As every eight floor constitutes an autonomous space, wind effects on the surface seen in high-rise buildings are eliminated. The design of the foundation guarantees pedestrian safety and comfort. Resembling the flexible yet persistent bamboo that rises into the sky, the building is a reflection of traditional Chinese building philosophy. Inclining 7 degrees inwards, the structure increases in size as it gets higher. The transparent and non-reflective curtain walls are energy efficient and heat reflective, enabling those in Taiwan's tallest building to have a clear view of the world around them. High-tech materials and innovative illumination creates a see-through effect with transparency and clarity that facilitates the harmony between the building and its natural environment.
Hwashan 1914 Creation Park
Huashan 1914 Creative Park is located at the site of the former Taihoku Winery. The buildings here were constructed by the Japanese in 1914 as a sake plant and were later re-purposed as the Taihoku Winery. After the winery relocated in 1987, the plant remained as a museum of industrial building technology. Since 1999, this site has grown as a venue for art and cultural exhibitions and performances, as well as a place for artistic creation by individuals and organizations. The park is home to a number of restaurants, art galleries, cultural and creative stores, and performance venues. Exhibition and performance spaces are also available for rental, further making this a center of Taiwan's cultural and creative industry.

Pingxi Lantern Trip - Shihfen Water Fall / Shihfen old street/Pingxi Old Street/Jingtong Old Street/Lantern Police Station
Afternoon:
JiaxoXi Old Street/Hot spring Park

PingXi Sky Lantern
Tradition has it that the “sky lantern” was invented during the Three Kingdoms period (AD 220-265) by Zhuge Liang. At first it was used to transmit military information, different from beacon towers yet ingeniously serving the same function, and is now generally recognized as the earliest ancestor to the hot air balloon. In the early 19th century the Lantern Festival was brought to Taiwan, where every year, at the beginning of the spring planting season, people would release “sky lanterns” into the air as a prayer for the coming year. Because in olden times marriage was for the purpose of “adding a son” and increasing manpower, people went to the temple to pray for blessings and released sky lanterns on which they had written things like “May a son soon be born.” and “May the harvests be bountiful.” Sky lanterns were released to follow the wind, rising up to the ancestors to report that all was well and to pray for blessings. Slowly this evolved to become a local event for the Yuanxiao Festival in the Pingxi area. Through many, many years of changes, the one thing that never changed was the reflected lives and hopes of the people as the sky lanterns slowly rose aloft. For many years the “Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival” has had a brilliant history.
JiaxoXi, Yilan
The special ground or crust stratum in Yilan County had made this area well known for its numerous hot springs, which are the result of air warmed by some source underground, and rising upward blended with under-layer water. Among them you would see the most historic "Jiaoxi Hot Spring," which is quite rare in Taiwan for its occurrence on a flatland. "Tangwei Hot Spring," meanwhile, has been famous since Qing Dynasty and placed on the list of "Eight Scenes of Lanyang Area."
The Jiaoxi Hot Spring originates at the foot of a hill behind Fuchung Temple at Deyang Village, Jiaoxi Township. While streaming along the ditches and highways, running through the railroads, the welling hot waters gather into a brook, serving local people as natural baths at the string of boiling ditches in ancient times.
However, there are only two public bathhouses left for those who want to try an absolutely different bath. As an alkaline fountain, Jiaoxi Hot Spring is crystal-clear, odorless, yet contains a considerable amount of minerals like Potassium chloride, Sodium sulphide, Potassium hydrogen carbonate, Technical Granular, Floating Acids as well as rich organisms.
Being honored as "The Hot Spring among Hot Springs," you would find your skin smooth and fine without the slightest stickiness after a bath at Jiaoxi.
All these years the Farmer's Association of Jiaoxi has been developing hot spring vegetables, hot spring drinking water, and hot spring breeding. They devote themselves to give full play to the possible usage of hot spring, so as to gain financial ground for agricultural economy and tour industry in Jiaoxi.

1 Day Tour in Taiping Shan
Jioujhihze Hot Spring / Jioujhihze Nature Trail/Jiancing Trail / Taiping Villa

TaipingShan National Forest Recreation Area
Taipingshan is situated in the northern county of Yilan and is one of Taiwan's three major national forest recreation areas. With a moist climate and abundant rainfall, it has nurtured an environment rich in ecological resources. The forests that cover the area consist of such valuable trees as Taiwan cypress, Taiwan hemlock, and Japanese cypress. The area is also blessed with geothermal energy at the Renze Hot Springs, the largest alpine lake on the island (Cuifeng Lake), and a variety of other enchanting scenery. One of the prime tourist spots here is the Taipingshan primeval forest park, which you reach via flights of stone steps lined with purple-leafed maple trees that become especially rich in color between the months of March and November. This used to be a major logging area, and traces of the old logging equipment can still be seen here—the old forestry railroad, ruins of a cable car up the mountain, motorized carts, trestles. Visitors here can also savor the constantly changing sight of the "sea of clouds," the brilliant sunrise, forest waterfalls, and other alluring scenes. No wonder that this is a favorite vacation spot for the people of Taiwan!
Taipingshan Forest Park is located in Datong, Yilan County, 12,000 hectares in area. The park covers the Nanhu Mountain, Sanxing Mountain and Dabajian Mountain. There are abundant cypress and pine trees and it used to be one of the three major forestry centers in Taiwan. Scenery here differs with the seasons. Visitors can come here to appreciate the flowers in spring, the sunrise and clouds in autumn. Vegetation here differs with the altitude.
Scenic spots here include Renze Hot Spring, Forest Park, Forest Tour Track, Wildlife Conservation area and Cuifeng Lake. The plants that change colors, such as maples, have brought Taipingshan beautiful views. Cherry blossoms, plum blossoms and apricot blossoms make the park exquisite scenery.
JiancingTrail, Taipingshan
As to Jiancing Historic Trail, it was built on part of the old「Forest Railway- Jancing Line」 and the total length is 0.9 km.
The old「Forest Railway- Jancing Line」is about 5.5 km, it still retains the natural beauty and historical heritages along the railway as decades ago. Nowadays, you will see the railway tracks, wooden log cart and bogies on the trail, which can invoke the memory of old logging business.

National Center for Traditional Arts/ Lanyan Museum
Afternoon:
Yehliu Geopark - Keelung Miaoko(Temple) Night Market - Taipei

Lanyan Museum
Rich in both natural and cultural resources, the Lanyang Plains are characterized by ecological and ethnic diversity, warm and friendly people, and a vibrant culture. It is said that Yilan itself is a museum and we believe the Lanyang Museum serves as a sort of window to those wishing to learn more about Yilan. The Lanyang Museum's mission is to bring together Yilan's local resources through books and displays as well as tourism and recreation to promote activities of museums throughout the county to ensure the sustained development of "the museum that is Yilan."

National Center for Traditional Arts
This new 24-hectare facility is located beside beautiful Dongshan River in Yilan. In addition to organized displays and performances of culture and art, it also provides a stage where performing artists can show off their creative works. The emphasis here is on the continuous propagation, innovation, and renewal of traditional arts. You can stroll casually among artistic creations, listen to elegant music, and enjoy exciting opera performances—and you can even participate in the process of artistic creation yourself. From the Center, you can take a boat and visit the Dongshan River Water Park.

Yehliu Geopark
Yehliu is a cape of about 1,700 meters long formed by Datun Mountain reaching into the sea. When overlooked from above, the place is like a giant turtle submerging into the sea. Thus, it is also called "Yehliu Turtle." Because the rock layer of seashore contains sandstone of limestone texture and it is subject to sea erosion, weathering and earth movements, there is particular scenery consisting of sea trenches/holes, candle shaped rocks, and pot shaped rocks. The place is divided into three sections. The first section has rocks like Queen's Head, Fairy's Shoe and Candle. The second section has rocks like Bean Curd, Dragon Head. The third section has sea-eroded caves, seal shaped rock, etc. The place is suitable for geological study and field research. In addition, there is a statue of Lin Tien Jane in commemoration of the person's bravery of scarifying own live for saving others. The monument describes in details the touching story.
